Education

We offer the only CDM management training program that includes lecture, hands on application of theories as well as a complete review of your facility CDM. Your current CDM actually becomes part of your classroom as you work with your own codes to gain the skills necessary to implement changes to your chargemaster on a routine basis. Better yet, when you leave class, you do so with the ability to manage all coding changes yourself using the ChargeMaster Pro software application.

Simply put, it’s the only CDM training of its kind. No one else offers this detail and depth of education—empowering your team to return home ready to maintain your CDM accurately and completely.

The only CDM management program that includes hands-on training using your current facility CDM.

Conducted by our strategic partner, the Chargemaster Institute (CMI), the CCH ChargeMaster Pro Educational program delivers hands-on Chargemaster management practice and experience, incorporating your real data into the training. This important advantage allows you to apply classroom lessons directly to your facility CDM.

Presented in a "lab" setting, this three-week program begins with instructional lessons, then advances to a clinical session where you work with your actual CDM.

The program covers:

ChargeMaster Institute Inc. was founded by Leonard Womack in July 2001. His company has since trained over 850 reimbursement professionals from 170+ hospitals and facilities, and has performed hundreds of CDM reviews. In the process, the Institute has earned respect for its ability to defend company findings with supportive documentation.

  • The applicable revenue codes to report the charges made from your department to Medicare and non-Medicare payers
  • The coverage issues that apply to the charges in your department
  • The applicable modifier codes that apply to charges in your department
  • Identifying and dealing with common Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits
  • Commonly encountered compliance issues in your area
  • Identifying special coding/billing challenges that exist in selected revenue center codes and describe steps needed to accurately capture charges and receive the proper reimbursement
  • Performing an effective review of your department ChargeMaster with an emphasis on how the above apply to charging, compliance and billing

In addition to learning about the charging, billing, coverage and compliance issues that affect your department, you also study side by side with those individuals in your facility primarily responsible for ChargeMaster maintenance. Working as a team using the CCH ChargeMaster Pro data analysis/review software application, you begin to apply the lessons learned to your own hospital’s ChargeMaster. The CMI expert staff then examines your findings and provides an Executive Report for your review and implementation.
